China set from George Basset in Brewster, New York

China set from George Basset
Price: $200
Type: Art & Antiques, For Sale

George Bassett was a New York company with factories in Limoges and in Austria. From the later 1800s until World War I, they imported into the US mostly table china with floral transfer decoration. Their goods have no porcelain mark; they were decorated at the factories which produced them.
Limoges (LEEmozh) is a city in France. It became famous for its very white and fine grain porcelain after the discovery of kaolin at St-Yrieix-la-Perche, 41 km south of Limoges, in 1768.
To protect the long-established reputation of Limoges porcelain and to maintain its high standards, the French government limits use of the name Limoges.
Thus, Limoges is a designation like Champagne:
Any sparkling wine within the official Champagne region is Champagne.
Any porcelain made within the official Limoges area is Limoges
As you can see from the picture i have provided this is not a complete set, there are only 4 dinner plates, and 6 coffee cups but most of the remander of the set has 8 pieces. There is also 1 Royal Hanover piece that will be included with the set. This set came from my family estate but do not know about the missing pieces. People please look at location list above before asking where i am thank you.
But like all items listed on eBay contact me as all things are negotiable so you could have this item for less than you think, also I need you to move ASAP as I do not want to take this with me when I move (and it is tough to bring everything in RV) so ask fast please.
Also this will need to be picked up as shipping would be very expensive to do!
